WHO SAYS NO TO THIS WAR?

• Pope John Paul II, Francis Cardinal George of Chicago Catholic Archdiocese, The Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago, Rabbi Ira Youdovin of Chicago Board of Rabbis, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ.
• The AFL-CIO, representing millions of American workers, and the Chicago Federation of Labor.
• Senator Dick Durbin & Representatives Danny Davis, Louis Gutierrez, Jesse Jackson, Jr., Bill Lipinski, Bobby Rush and Jan Schakowsky, the Chicago City Council (by a vote of 46 to 1 of Chicago Aldermen), along with ca. 150 other U.S. municipalities.

WHAT DOES THIS WAR MEAN TO US?

• Erosion of our civil liberties, including the right to organize, and attacks on immigrants dishonor the promise of freedom countless working Americans fought and died for.
• Our neighborhoods, cities and states are going broke, unemployment, layoffs, and lack of health insurance are on the rise, corporate corruption is rampant and the administration is giving massive tax breaks to the rich. Schools, hospitals, housing & Social Security will lose billions of dollars to pay for this war.
• The sons and daughters of working class families who serve in the military, together with Iraqi civilians, will be the principal victims of a war.
• Retaliatory terrorist acts are likely to increase because of a military attack on Iraq (so say U.S. General Anthony C. Zinni and Desert Storm Iraq Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson), and there is no convincing link between Iraq and Al Qaeda (so says George Tenet, CIA Director).
